History and Inspiration
Founded by seasoned temple builders, the Everywhen Project draws its inspiration from a rich tapestry of spiritual architecture. The team's experience ranges from crafting Temples at various events and festivals to the construction of real-world Buddhist stupas. The Everywhen Temple, in particular, is a homage to the spiritual essence of the Himalayas and the ancient sanctuaries of India, infused with the architectural nuances of contemporary temples in Taiwan. Rooted deeply in Asian traditions, the Temple reflects the rich cultural heritage of the Everywhen Project's leadership and founders, many of whom are of Asian descent, and the Project's dedication to celebrating global cultural diversity.The Temple has journeyed through diverse terrains before finding its permanent home at Constellation City in 2020. It has graced the summit of a volcano, the shores of an ocean, the tranquility of a beach, the pristine white of snowscapes, the pandemonium of an 80,000-person party, and the serene expanse of the open desert. Each installation, unique in its setting, has enriched the Temple's narrative, weaving stories of the land it has embraced.
Rituals and Traditions
In line with Buddhist and Taoist traditions, the Temple incorporates the ritual of writing on paper and offering these inscriptions to the Temple fire. This practice is deeply symbolic, resonating with themes of veneration, remembrance, and the transference of merits or blessings. Attendees are encouraged to participate in this ritual, offering their written thoughts, prayers, or wishes to the flames, symbolizing release, transformation, and spiritual communion.
